Sneak Peek - Holiday Mini

At this year's convention we got to see demonstrations using some of the awesome new products from the upcoming Holiday Mini.  Here is a photo of a really cute marker case made with fabric from the Spice Cake Product Suite.  Trust me - this fabric, and the coordinating Designer Series Paper, are gorgeous!

The colors used in the fabric and DSP are Pool Party, More Mustard, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla - very fall-like (and fall happens to be one of my very favorite seasons).  Yes, this case involves using a sewing machine, but it is very simple to make.  And how handy!  The case rolls up and is tied together with ribbon.  I love, love this project.  The case holds a complete color family.  What a great and colorful way to store your watercolor markers.

Another Convention Project - Furry Folk Card

I wanted to share with you a darling card that was demonstrated at convention, this one made with the new Furry Folk stamp set (#122306 Clear Mount, $17.95 CM for 14 images). 

Not only is this card drop-dead cute, but it demonstrates how easy it is to line up clear mount images using a brand new product, Clear-Mount Perfectly Placed Guides (page 205 in the Idea Book & Catalog, $5.95).  The repositionable guides are placed on clear blocks, then you line up the stamps on the grid lines - voila - you have a perfectly positioned image.  This definitely a product I will be using in an upcoming class.

Another Convention Project

Stampin' Up! never disappoints when it comes to the awesome projects they demonstrate on stage at convention!  Here is a photo of a gift box that was demonstrated.  Can you guess what was used to make the box? 

The Milk Carton die was used to make this adorable box!  I love it when I learn new ways to use products I already own, don't you?  I'm going to play with my Milk Carton die to reproduce this box, and plan to teach how to make it at an upcoming class.

Convention "Make & Take" Card

Every year convention-goers receive free stamp sets and a package of supplies for the "Make & Take" projects.  We then have approxinately two hours to complete the projects.  Since I am a little slower than some to make my projects, I usually complete one or two cards, then bring the rest home so I can finish them at my leisure.

Here is one of the cards I completed during my Make & Take session.  I really like the design and colors of the card, so I plan to include it as one of the projects my at New Catalog party this Saturday.

The card uses the Raining Flowers ( a two-step stamp set) and It's Your Day stamp sets.  Cardstock is Lucky Limeade (one of this year's In Colors - it's yummy) and Whisper White.  Ink: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Island Indigo (another of this year's In Colors), Lucky Limeade and More Mustard.  Among the accessories used are Pearl Basic Jewels, 1/2" circle punch, Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, and a strip of the new 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon - the color is Island Indigo.

Another Convention Sneak Peek

Christmas will be upon us before we know it!  At convention we saw projects made with lots of the products in the upcoming Holiday Mini.  My mind is already working on items I can make for the holidays.

Here is a cute care made with the Stitched Stockings stamp set, and Stocking Builder Punch.  Can't you hardly wait to get your hands on both?

Have I Mentioned The Upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog?

At convention we saw demonstrations of some of the products that will be in the new Holiday Mini, which goes live September 1st.   Here is a sneek peek photo of a gift made using the Holiday Stocking Bigz Die and Stocking Accents Die:

This project also used the new Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper, as well as the red Glimmer Paper that thankfully made into the 2011/2012 Idea Book & Catalog.  Because the person demonstrating the die was holding the stocking she made, you can get an idea of the finished size - it is nice and big!

More Convention Product Displays

Day Two Of Convention

Whew!  Another full day at the Stampin' Up! convention.  I am having fun taking photos of product displays, and also got a nice photo of Stampin' Up!'s co-founder, Shelli Gardner:

Shelli has her own style, and it fits her so well.  She also genuinely cares for demonstrators, and always has a big smile on her face.

First Full Day Of Convention

Convention began bright and early with the first General Session at 8 AM.  Thousands of stampers gathered in the meeting hall to hear a message from Shelli Gardner, a Holiday Mini Catalog product preview by Pam Morgan (I'll post more about that later!), lunch, our Make & Take session, classes, and a 2nd General Session with a presentation by Shelli's daughter, Sarah.  This was a FULL day!

Late NIght Stampers Project

My roommate, Reiko, and I attended three pre-convention events on Tuesday.  The event I enjoyed the most was the Stamp Camp, during which we made 8 projects.  This is one of them - a cute box, made with the Box #2 die, and three 3" x 3" note cards.  Can you guess how the square background on the notecard was made?  Time's up - it was made by inking up an acrylic block and stamping it onto the cardstock.  So easy and such a nice effect!
